Unsolicited applications
In addition to the positions advertised above, unsolicited applications for research positions at the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law are always welcome. We are constantly looking for excellent staff members with interest in and exceptional knowledge of criminal law and criminology.
Employment is possible either in the context of specific research projects or (in the Department of Criminal Law) also in country sections or topical sections. We are especially interested in candidates with legal expertise in countries that are currently under- or unrepresented at the Institute. Doctoral students may also apply for a position in one of the International Max Planck Research Schools (IMPRS) the Institute is associated with. Fifty percent of all IMPRS students should be from a country other than Germany. Outstanding candidates may receive financial support in the form of a stipend from the Max Planck Society.
As a rule, the Max Planck Society can only offer fixed-term positions (full or part-time). Under appropriate circumstances, the opportunity to pursue a doctorate is available and, with it, the perspective of receiving support for a subsequent academic career. Payment is dependent on the qualifications and experience of the candidate and is calculated according to the rates for German civil service employees (Tarifvertrag für den öffentlichen Dienst – TVöD). The Max Planck Society is an equal opportunity employer and encourages disabled persons to apply. It also aims to increase the percentage of female employees in fields in which they are underrepresented and therefore also expressly encourages women to apply.
Please send your informative application by e-mail only to bewerbungen@mpicc.de (max. 5 MB per mail). In addition to your application, an overview of your grades instead of scanned certificates is sufficient at this stage of your application. If you are applying for a specific department, please state this very clearly in your e-mail so that we can forward your application to the appropriate person. In order to allow us to check all possible areas of potential employment, please indicate international working experience, language skills, and expertise.
As unsolicited applications are usually passed between different departments, sections, and project leaders, please allow a processing time of approximately three to four weeks. Please refrain from further inquiries during this time.
