In addition to the research carried out in the Department of Criminal Law, the education of young researchers in criminal law is also embedded in the program's research focuses and research fields, especially within the framework of the "International Max Planck Research School for Comparative Criminal Law," which was established in 2007. The Research School was designed to support doctoral students who are writing dissertations in the area of comparative criminal law. Both the young researchers and the criminal law research program itself benefit from this integration into the research program and the research activities of the Institute, as the doctoral students, with their research projects, contribute to the construction of theories on the limits of criminal law and to comparative criminal law.
