Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law

The new guest rooms of the Max Planck Institute are located in the rear wing of the new administration facilities at Fürstenbergstraße 19. The building is less than a three-minute walk from the Institute's main building at Günterstalstraße 73.
Since June 1, 2009, eight guest apartments have been available for rent to visitors to the Institute. Seven of them can be reserved as single rooms.

The eighth guest apartment is more spacious as it was designed for disabled guests. This apartment can be booked either as a single or as a double room.

The seven single apartments each have a small kitchenette with two hotplates and a refrigerator. In addition, the kitchenette is compactly equipped with all the necessary dishes and cooking utensils.

These single apartments were designed and furnished with one person in mind; they can be occupied by only one guest.

• Each apartment is equipped with a bathroom including shower and toilet.
• Hand and bath towels are supplied and changed once a week.
• Further furnishings include a sleeping area with bed and nightstand, a large desk and chair, spacious built-in wardrobes with ample storage space, and a dining area with table and chair.
• Telephone and Internet connections as well as satellite TV are available in all rooms.
• For stays of one week and longer, the apartments are cleaned and the bed linen and bathroom towels changed once a week.
• All apartments are non-smoking apartments. All guests are welcome to relax in the charming inner courtyard where smoking is permitted. Please note that smoking is prohibited throughout the entire building.

It is possible for guests to wash and dry their clothes in the same building in which the guest apartments are located. A large washing machine and dryer are available in the laundry room and can be used for a small fee.

  every Tuesday and Thursday between 8.00 a.m. and 10.00 a.m. (on holidays, the cleaning takes place at a later time)
  incl. cleaning of the bathroom
  incl. emptying of the garbage cans
  incl. changing of bed linens and bathroom towels
• Washing machine and dryer available in the laundry room for a small fee
• Arrival outside opening hours: Key pick-up at a keysafe
• Smoking area in the inner courtyard

Rooms can be booked for a minimum of one night and a maximum of three months.

Rooms are primarily rented out to guest researchers or scholarship holders with a research post at the MPI for Foreign and International Criminal Law.

Rental to employees of the Max Planck Society or other institutions is only allowed for official business purposes.

Stays under one month
The cancellation of a stay of less than one month is free of charge until one day before your arrival. If you had planned to arrive on a Saturday, Sunday, or Monday, the cancellation must be made by 10 a.m. on the Thursday before your arrival. If the cancellation has not been received by this time, you will be charged a cancellation fee equal to the price of a one-night stay.

Stays over one month
The cancellation of a stay of over one month remains free of charge until one week before your arrival. After that, you will be charged a cancellation fee equal to the price of a three-night stay.

Arrival Monday to Friday:
Check-in starting at 12 noon (you may move into your room after 12 noon)

Departure Monday to Friday:
Check-out by 9:00 a.m. (we kindly ask you to vacate your room by 9:00 a.m. so that we can prepare it for the next guest)

You will receive an answer within a few days.

If an apartment is available, you will receive a reservation confirmation form. We kindly ask you to sign and return this form to us by mail.

Should your plans change, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can change your booking if necessary.

At the latest 10 days before your arrival, please inform us of the details of your arrival (day and especially time). These arrival details are important for the organization of how you will receive your key.
