The Institute

Outstanding scholars, groundbreaking research, and extensive consulting expertise - these are the three pillars of the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law in Freiburg.

With more than 500 visiting researchers from all over the world coming to the Institute each year, 17 kilometers-worth of books and periodicals, and an interdisciplinary focus on criminal law and criminology, the Institute is a bastion of information and knowledge for both academic staff and visiting researchers. It is little wonder that the Institute is also frequently called-upon by government agencies for assistance in answering complex legal questions.
