Organization of the Institute

The Max Planck Institute has two directors, Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Hans-Jörg Albrecht and Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Ulrich Sieber. Each director presides over one of the Institute’s two departments.

The Department of Criminal Law (leader: Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Ulrich Sieber) is dedicated primarily to German, foreign, and comparative criminal law, criminal procedure, and international criminal law. It is divided into country sections and topical sections. The projects of the Department of Criminal Law are carried out by individual staff members, by one or more sections, or by the entire department.

The Department of Criminology (leader: Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Hans-Jörg Albrecht) is not organized by country but rather by project.
